February is known as the month of love, a wonderful opportunity to commit to a yoga and meditation practice focusing on areas of the heart. The heart is an incredible muscle — the pump and beat of life — and a center of feeling — where love radiates and hearts shatter. This weekly series includes asanas to stimulate the cardiovascular system and increase flexibility in the chest, shoulders and arms; and meditations to increase breath capacity and awareness of the cardiopulmonary system. Through the yoga and meditation practice, there is opportunity to recognize and release emotions related to the heart, whether they are negative or positive. Thoughts leading to feelings of self-loathing, self-doubt and the like are encouraged to be transmuted into self-love, self-acceptance…and self-love already present is encouraged to expand, expand, expand.
