Join us for a day of SUP yoga at Lake Natomas.
Stand up paddleboard yoga (SUP yoga) combines the sport of stand-up paddleboarding with yoga postures, also known as asanas.
Yogi’s continually seek ways to grow both on and off the mat – This class is the perfect opportunity for those seeking a new experience to get take your practice beyond your mat for a change of scenery.
Whether you are paddling or just balancing on your board, SUPing is a full body low – impact workout that combines balance, strength, and endurance to provide an excellent core workout that engages the toes, legs, back, shoulders, arms and neck, all working together for all levels of yogi’s or individuals looking to explore yoga in a whole new light.
BENEFITS OF SUP YOGA
We will spend the first portion of the class on land, practicing Sun Salutations and several other yoga postures designed to properly warm the body and prepare us for our practice out on the water. We’ll then paddle throughout the lake and pause at various points on our journey to practice an assortment of yoga postures. We will always provide easier and more challenging posture options, catering to each individual’s ability level and experiencing the connection of finding a deep ujjayi breath while exploring strength, balance and flexibility amidst the beauty of Folsom Lake.
We will conclude by settling into savasana to enjoy a yoga Nidra on the board, lying still under the warm sun with the sound of the water moving gently beneath us as we soak in all of the benefits of our physical practice.
This will be a blissful practice of complete relaxation and serenity to take with you into the rest of your day and weekend.
