Ashtanga is Vinyasa Yoga in its purest form. An extensive series of postures, binds and mudras which combine together to create a flowing sequence, Ashtanga energizes and purifies the body while focusing and calming the mind. Meditative, challenging, and often intensely physical, this class links movement and breath to gradually open and expand our human range of motion, and connect us more deeply to our subtle body.
In this class Sam will lead the complete First Series, employing Sanskrit, chanting, and a traditional vinyasa count to assist students in developing a self-practice, which is the ultimate goal of Ashtanga Yoga. Hands-on assistance, adjustments and modifications are an integral part of this practice, and students of all abilities are welcome to give it a try!
